Roels & Responsibilities
The roles and responsibilities of directors are defined by law. In addition, individual directors should agree their specific role and contribution with the chairman.

Board meetings and committee meetings are the main process through which boards operate. Processes and good practice are the core to good governance and effective use of time.
Chairmanship
A lot can be achieved in meetings; conversely, a lot of time can be wasted. Effective chairmanship is essential to ensure that meetings regularly achieve their aims.

The primary task of all boards is to establish corporate direction. Although the board exists to monitor management, the interests of the company are best served when directors and management can work together.
Communication
Effective communication is best achieved by establishing robust process and practices. This ensures that communication with stakeholders is effective and that 'surprises' are dealt with an appropriate and timely manner.
